A true flavour of Cornwall’s Forgotten Corner!

2 days, 24 glorious miles.

Day 1: Plymouth to the Finnygook Inn

Start your adventure crossing the river Tamar, the natural county boundary between Devon and Cornwall and begin your walk around the beautiful Mt Edgcumbe estate. Weave between tall trees and explore historic relics, follies, and paths with stunning vistas or lush green canopies before arriving in the twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand.

The beautiful villages give way to a forrested track that emerges out onto the Atlantic. From here explore historic ruins and make your way to Rame Head Chapel: St Michael's Hermitage dating from 1425! From here wind your way across the open expanse of Whitsand Bay, enjoying exploring the cliffs and an endless horizon of blue water. Your accommodation for the night awaits at the end of the bay!

Day 2: Finnygook Inn to Looe

Back to the coast. Keep the sea to your left as you meander along to Looe. Sweeping coastal vistas abound and you’ll have the option to explore sandy coves and cute villages along the way. Highlights on your train journey back to Plymouth include the scenic river valley railway and a trip across the amazing and historic 660m long Royal Albert Bridge, completed in 1859, across the Tamar.

  • Sturdy shoes, boots are good, trail running shoes are good, hiking sandals are just fine too! The trail is buffed out and mostly quite smooth underfoot, if we have nice dry trails normal trainers shouldn't be a problem either.

If the weather is hot: slip - slap - slop - sip (slip on a shirt, slap on a hat, slop on some sunscreen and sip on some water).

If it's cool: lovely! Longsleeve and shorts is our favourite combo and it's nice to have a cool day to warm up into when we get moving.

If it's rainy/windy: expect some coastal drama, blue skies and calm seas are beautiful but there is something just magical about feeling the energy of the Atlantic and seeing the waves march towards the cliffs. Layers are your friend! Moisture wicking base, long sleeve, optional warm insulated layer and then a rainproof on top. A spare change of socks is a moralle booster - keep some in a sandwhich bag in your pack.

Signal is mostly good along the route and we can provide water refills.
